Summary: This study aims to enhance the generalization capabilities of DNN-based MRI reconstruction methods for undersampled k-space data. By introducing a mask-aware DNN architecture and training method, the under-sampled data and mask are encoded within the model structure, leading to improved performance. Rigorous testing on the widely accessible fastMRI dataset reveals that this approach demonstrates better generalization capabilities and robustness compared to traditional DNN methods.

Summary: The amount of data from modern acquisition systems is increasing, especially in extreme experimental conditions, leading to longer computation times and increased power consumption. This issue is prevalent in world laboratories like CERN and Brookhaven National Laboratory. The paper proposes a methodology to adapt legacy high-energy physics algorithms using FPGAs, providing better performance and real-time system design. The methodology involves separating the work areas between physicists and electronics experts, and consists of several parts such as verification methods, program refactoring, and performance analysis.

Summary: In this study, we propose a GPU acceleration procedure for the transport-property calculation of the RSPACE code, which effectively improves computational speed and efficiency. By parallelizing the calculation and minimizing communication and synchronization, we achieved a speed up of approximately 4x in a multi-GPU environment. The influence of defect geometry on information loss in electron waves propagating in carbon nanotubes is also investigated.

Summary: Motivated by a use case in theoretical hadron physics, this paper revisits an application of a pole-sum fit to dressing functions of a confined quark propagator. Specifically, it investigates approaches to determine the number and positions of singularities closest to the origin for a function known numerically on a specific grid on the positive real axis. Comparing the efficiency of standard techniques to a pure artificial-neural-network approach and a combination of both, it finds that the combined approach is more efficient. This approach can be applied to similar situations where the positions of poles need to be estimated quickly and reliably from real-axis information alone.

Summary: This paper focuses on a robust variant of the kidney exchange program problem with recourse, and proposes a cutting plane method for solving the attacker-defender subproblem. The results show a significant improvement in running time compared to the state-of-the-art, and the method can solve previously unsolved instances. Additionally, a new practical policy for recourse is proposed and its tractability for small to mid-size kidney exchange programs is demonstrated.

Summary: This paper describes the current state of the EUTERPE code, focusing on the implemented models and their numerical implementation. The code is capable of solving the multi-species electromagnetic gyrokinetic equations in a three-dimensional domain. It utilizes noise reduction techniques and grid resolution transformation for efficient computation. Additionally, various hybrid models are implemented for comparison and the study of plasma-particle interactions. The code is parallelized for high scalability on multiple CPUs.

Summary: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important in various sectors of society. However, the black box nature of most AI techniques such as Machine Learning (ML) hinders their practical application. This has led to the emergence of Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), which aims to provide AI-based decision-making processes and outcomes that are easily understood, interpreted, and justified by humans. While there has been a significant amount of research on XAI, there is currently a lack of studies on its practical applications. To address this research gap, this article proposes a comprehensive review of the business applications of XAI and a six-step framework to improve its implementation and adoption by practitioners.

Summary: This paper presents a novel analytical solution for the consolidation behavior of viscoelastic saturated soft soil under large-scale ground loading. The study shows that the soil permeability coefficient, Newtonian viscosity coefficient, and Hooke's spring modulus have significant influences on the dissipation of excess pore water pressure and the degree of consolidation. The permeability condition of the tunnel also affects the distribution of excess pore water pressure in the soil layer above the tunnel.

Summary: Ground vibrations during earthquakes can cause soil strength loss and structural damage. Rubber-soil mixtures (RSM) have shown promise in reducing residual ground deformation. This study used molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the friction behavior of the rubber-clay interface in RSM systems. The results revealed a direct correlation between normal stress and friction force, with denser soil systems exhibiting higher friction forces.

Summary: In addition to the Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown criteria, other nonlinear functions are used to describe the plastic response of rock mass. This paper derived the equivalent cohesive strength, frictional angle, and dilatancy angle for nonlinear yield and plastic flow rock masses. The solution for a circular tunnel in any nonlinear yield and plastic flow rock masses was derived and verified using a numerical procedure. The analysis of strain-softening rock masses under two assumed nonlinear yield criteria was also studied.
