Two Remarkably Luminous Galaxy Candidates at z ≈ 10-12 Revealed by JWST

Summary: Researchers have used JWST/NIRCam to search for bright galaxies in the last unexplored epoch of the universe (around a few hundred million years ago with z > 10). They have identified two candidate galaxies, which show spectral features suggesting they may have formed stars with a mass of around 10^9 solar masses in approximately 300-400 million years. These findings challenge previous predictions of the number density of such bright sources at high redshifts.

PSR J0952-0607: The Fastest and Heaviest Known Galactic Neutron Star

Summary: We describe the Keck-telescope spectrophotometry and imaging of the companion of the black widow pulsar PSR J0952-0607. Despite the challenges posed by its faintness at minimum brightness, we were able to measure multicolor light curves and obtain radial velocities over half of the orbit. Our model fits indicate the system inclination and the mass of the pulsar, which is the largest well-measured mass found to date. This study is important for understanding the mass evolution of neutron stars.

Summary: This work presents the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 cosmic-shear measurements and cosmological constraints based on an analysis of over 100 million source galaxies, while a companion paper provides further details. Recent observations have provided a wealth of information about FRBs, including their abundance, repeaters, host galaxies, and source activity. Nonlinear electrodynamics effects on the black hole shadow, deflection angle, quasinormal modes and greybody factors

Summary: In this paper, the effects of nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) on non-rotating black holes are discussed, including various observable and physical properties. It is found that the NED black hole is always surrounded by an event horizon and any magnetic charge is permissible. The black hole gets colder with increasing charge, and the observed shadow radius is strongly affected by the magnetic charge parameter P. The introduction of charge steepens the greybody factor of the black hole.

Summary: An incremental version (4FGL-DR3) of the fourth Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) catalog of gamma-ray sources is presented, which contains 6658 sources based on the first 12 years of science data. The analysis improves on the previous catalog by introducing better spectral parameterization for pulsars and extending the spectral points to 1 TeV. Updates are made to the spectral parameters, spectral energy distributions, and associations for all sources.

Summary: We analyze JWST ERO and ERS NIRCam imaging in combination with ground-based near-infrared imaging to measure the evolving galaxy UV luminosity function and estimate the UV luminosity density and cosmic star formation rate density at high redshifts. Our results confirm a double power law description of the high-redshift LF and show a gradual decline up to z≈15. We also identify 47 new high-redshift galaxy candidates.

Summary: In this study, we present the results of a search for galaxy candidates with redshifts around z=9-15 using deep seven-band NIRCam imaging from the GLASS-JWST Early Release Science Program. We identified several candidates using different versions of the Lyman-break technique and obtained their photometric redshifts. These candidates include two bright galaxies with redshifts greater than z=10, which is unexpected given the survey volume.

Barrow entropic dark energy: A member of generalized holographic dark energy family

Summary: In this study, the holographic cut-off in the formalism of generalized holographic dark energy (HDE) is generalized to depend on the particle horizon, future horizon, and scale factor of the universe. It is shown that the Barrow entropic dark energy (DE) model is equivalent to the generalized HDE, where the holographic cut-off is determined by the first-order derivative of the particle horizon or future horizon. The equivalence is extended to consider the variation of the Barrow entropy exponent with the cosmological expansion.
