Liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) of the 1-propanol/2-propanol/2-butanol/2-methyl-2-propanol + disodium tartrate or disodium succinate + water systems have been measured at T = 298.15 K. The Merchuk et al. equation was used to correlate the obtained binodal data. The effect of some factors such as length of alcohol chain, polarity of alcohol and the type of salt on the phase behavior of these systems has been discussed. In addition, the experimental tie-lines were reproduced using the Othmer-Tobias and Bancroft, Setschenow-type equations and the generalized electrolyte-NRTL and generalized Wilson models. Finally, the plait points of these investigated systems were estimated. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
