A series of novel acyclic nucleoside phosphonates with a built-in arylphosphonate moiety has been prepared by a microwave-assisted cross-coupling reaction as the key step. Their cytostatic and antiviral activities were tested. The pK(a) values of the target ortho-, meta- and pare-substituted aryl-phosphonates were determined by P-31 NMR titration studies.
