We are reporting the first synthesis of the new chiral Bronsted acid BINBAM [(R)-1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-bis(sulfon)amide, 21, which can be obtained in four steps from commercially available BINOL (5). The compound is expected to be an alternative for established catalysts like phosphoric acids of BINOL 4 or TRIP and to show stronger Bronsted acidity. ((C) Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
