The first donor-stabilized silylenes with guanidinato ligands, compounds 4 and 6, were synthesized and structurally characterized in the solid state and in solution. As demonstrated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, compound 4 contains a bidentate and a monodentate guanidinato ligand of the type [iPrNC(NiPr2)NiPr](-), and compound 6 contains the bidentate guanidinato ligand [ArNC(NMe2)NAr](-) (Ar = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) and the monodentate amido ligand [(Me3Si)(2)N](-). Both silicon(II) complexes exist also in solution.
