Cyanido- and phosphane-substituted [FeFe] hydrogenase models are known to show increased basicity of the [2Fe2S] cluster. Following our continued interest in [2Fe2S(Si)] compounds, substitution reactions of such complexes with tetraethylammonium cyanide as well as triphenylphosphane were investigated to yield the respective monosubstituted triphenylphosphane complexes 2a-c and cyanido complexes 3a-c. Cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the electrocatalytic H-2 formation with acetic acid.
