A novel design for thin and wideband absorbers is presented. The proposed absorber is a two-dimensional periodic array of unit cells, which are a combination of the high-impedance transmission line and the circuit analogue screen. The combined absorber exhibits a multiple-resonant characteristic and provides a very wide absorbing bandwidth. Measured results show that this new absorber has a bandwidth of 108% for 10 dB radar cross-section reduction with a thickness of only 7.1 and 23.7% of the free-space wavelengths at the lowest and highest operating frequencies.
