Presented is a formal model and a platform, named ALUPAS, for estimating energy consumption and execution time of embedded biomedical applications. This work aims at providing, in an early design phase, a mechanism for supporting design decisions on energy consumption and the performance of embedded applications. To depict the practical usability of the proposed method, a real-world case study as well as customised examples are presented. The estimates obtained throughout the model are 91% accurate in relation to the respective measures obtained from the real hardware platform.
