Periodically structured Fe2O3 films are successfully fabricated by anodizing Fe foils using sinusoidally modulated current waveforms. The fabricated Fe2O3 films possess nanopores and long-range structural periodicities which can be conveniently adjusted by tuning the anodization parameters. Strong optical response and vivid film color were readily observed on the fabricated Fe2O3 films. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
