A highly dispersed platinum nanoparticle-graphene nanosheet (PtNP-GNS) hybrid colloidal solution was prepared by liquid phase pulsed laser ablation. PtNP-GNS hybrids as air cathode delivered a steady discharge capacity of around 4820 mA h/g at the current density of 70 mA/g. High electrocatalytic activity of PtNP-GNS hybrids for both discharge and charge processes as air electrode made graphene composites a potential application for Li-air battery. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V.
