Spontaneous deposition of Pd onto porous electrodeposits of either Ni or Co yields active anodes for the oxidation of methanol and ethanol in basic aqueous media. These electrodes may sustain steady-state currents of the order of 0.25 A cm(-2). Their peak current per unit Pd mass is about 100 A g(-1). (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
