The novel anodic electrochemiluminescence (ECL) behaviors of the CdSe nanoparticles coreacted with tertiary amine were observed. The ECL intensity peak located near +1.2 V, accompanied with a shoulder above +1.5 V. The ECL emission peak estimated at about 580 nm was almost identical with that of the photoluminescence (PL), indicating the passivation of the surfaces of the nanoparticles. The dependence of the ECL on system pH and the concentration of the coreactants were also discussed. The halide ions could quench ECL, with the effective order I- > Br- > Cl-. Based on these results the possible ECL processes were proposed. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
