The thermal stability of the organic solar cells (OSCs) was studied using various exciton blocking layers. Pyridine and spirobifluorene based exciton blocking layers were used as the exciton blocking layer and they were compared with common 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BCP) exciton blocking layer. The device performances of small molecule OSC was maintained stable up to 100 degrees C by using pyridine or spirobifluorene type exciton blocking materials, while the OSC performances were degraded in the small molecule solar cell with common BCP exciton blocking layer.
