Although detailed information about divalent europium-doped SrSi2N2O2, BaSi2N2O2, and CaSi2N2O2 phosphors and their binary mixtures and solid solutions is now well known, no attempt has been made to examine ternary (Sr,Ba,Ca)Si2N2O2. In this regard, we employed high throughput, solid-state synthesis and characterization techniques aimed at screening the entire composition range of the ternary (Sr,Ba,Ca)Si2N2O2 library in terms of photoluminescence intensity, color chromaticity, and structure. We finally pinpointed two promising ternary phosphors, (Sr0.5Ca0.4Ba0.1)Si2N2O2:Eu2+ and (Sr0.6Ca0.3Ba0.1)Si2N2O2:Eu2+, which would work best as reliable candidates for use in light emitting diode applications.
