The effects of Eu2+ co-doping were examined on vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoluminescence properties of BaMgAl10O17:Mn2+ phosphors. The BaMgAl10O17:Mn2+,Eu2+ phosphors were synthesized with various Eu concentrations ranging from 0 to 2 atom %. When Eu ions were added, the blue luminescence appeared with the decrease in the green luminescence. With increasing Eu concentration, the decay time (tau(1/10)) gradually decreased from 11.7 ms (0 atom %) to 3.5 ms (2 atom %). The energy-transfer efficiencies (eta(Mn -> Eu)) were analyzed with the average-decay time (tau(av)) acquired by a double-exponential fitting, and the 2 atom % Eu sample showed the energy-transfer efficiency of 19%.
