We present XRD, H-1 and C-13 NMR and EPR characterization of nanodiamond samples fabricated using laser treatment of carbon soot. We show that the samples are of high quality and nearly metal- and graphite-free. Variations in the EPR spectra and C-13 nuclear spin-lattice relaxation times with increased grain size are obtained.
