The main aim of this study was to utilize an impinging streams reactor as a novel procedure in photocatalytic degradation of phenol using Degussa P25 TiO(2) nano particles as the reaction catalyst under UV radiation The results demonstrated the improved performance of the present reactor in comparison with the conventional apparatus In addition, the role of dissolved oxygen. in the photocatalytic degradation of phenol was investigated This was achieved by applying either air or nitrogen as the spray gas in pneumatic nozzles Replacement of air with nitrogen as the spray gas almost halted the photocatalytic degradation of phenol Finally, a modified kinetic model was presented for this process.
