The model that was developed based on concentration polarization-cake layer interplay can predict well the permeate fluxes under different operating conditions (cross-flow velocity, transmembrane pressure and solute concentration). The model contains a single constant and the specific cake resistance that will be evaluated from experiments. Excellent prediction is observed for transmembrane pressures below some value at which an increase in transmembrane pressure (TMP) brings about an increase of the cake layer resistance and the flux no more vary with pressure. For TMPs above this value, the model over predicted the steady-state permeate fluxes.
