Thiophene appended rhodaminehydrazone derivative, RDHDTCA allows selective colorimetric and fluorescence recognition of Cu2+ as low as 2.4 x 10(-8) M. RDHDTCA is capable to detect intracellular Cu2+ in human breast cancer cells, MCF7 under fluorescence microscope.
