Intermolecular friction (IF) is an important but unclear concept in the material world. We propose intermolecular friction symbols (IFSs) to straightforwardly and roughly evaluate IF in crystal bulks and introduce a method for plotting them in terms of the close contacts among an assigned molecule and its neighbors in lattice. Also, we confirm that the IFS is a simple and efficient tool to understand experimental observations related to IF, by applying successfully it to assess impact sensitivity of explosives.
