A one-step benzene-water azeotrope method has been carried out for the first time for the selective preparation of NaFeSO4F and NaFeSO4F center dot 2H(2)O starting from FeSO4 center dot 7H(2)O and NaF in a short time (1 min) at a low temperature (200 degrees C) in an autoclave with different sealed caps using benzene as a reaction medium and dehydrant.
