A solvothermal reaction of Zn(OAc)(2), 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) and tri(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate (H(3)tci) in presence or absence of NaOH leads to the generation of two novel coordination polymers, [Zn-3(tci)(2)(bpy)(1.5)(H2O)(2)]center dot 6H(2)O (1) and [ZnNa(tci)(bpy)(0.5)(H2O)]center dot 2H(2)O (2), which feature a three-fold interpenetrating (3,4,5)-connected 3D network and a two-fold interpenetrating (4,5)-connected (4(3).6(3))(4(3).6(6).8)-fsx network, respectively.
