Large area arrays of patterned carbonate nanofibers have been constructed via polymer controlled mineralization. Micropatterned octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS)-coated domains on the smooth substrate were found to preferentially deposit mineral films, which could act as a secondary template for growth of nanofibers after their solidification or crystalization.
