The relative (with respect to a powder potassium dihydrophosphate crystal) effective second-order nonlinear susceptibilities have been measured for gel-grown single crystals of some tartrates with the general formula MeC4H4O6 center dot nH(2)O on powder samples upon the excitation of the second harmonic of laser radiation with a wavelength of 1.064 mu m. The unit-cell parameters and the symmetry space groups have been determined for the single crystals under study.
