Hydrothermal reactions of Co-II or Zn-II acetate with benzene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid (H(3)bta) and 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpa) afford two unique metal organic frameworks, in which 1 represents a new type of entangled architecture formed via polycatenane of a pair of (4,4) net with one two-dimensional 3-connected self-interpenetrating pattern, while 2 shows a three-dimensional 4-connected net with a new trinodal topology.
