Five polynuclear complexes of d(10) metals with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole(HMBD) or 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (HMBT), namely, [N(CH2CH3)(4)][Cu-3(MBD)(2)] (1), [N(CH3)(CH2CH3)(3)](2)[Cu-6(MBD)(6)]Cl-2 (2), [Ag-6(MBT)(6)] (3), [Zn-4(mu(4)-O)-(MBD)(6)]center dot 3CH(3)OH (4), and [Zn-4(mu(4)-O)(MBT)(6)] (5), have been synthesized undersolvothernial conditions. The photoluminescence properties of complexes 1-5 have been studied, and three primary colors, red, green, and blue were observed from these complexes.
