Novel coordinated-solvent induced assembly has been demonstrated upon reaction of Cd(II) ions and 4,4'-dipyridylsulfide, where different coordinating solvents used as the reaction media led to the formation of various dimensional coordination networks from one-dimension, two-dimension, to three-dimension.
