We discuss simplified formulations for the electrical conductivity [1] and compare them with experimental results of various expanded metals recently published [2]. We use formulations designed for fully ionized hydrogen in a broader range of non-fully ionized materials of various atomic number through the use of an effective coupling parameter based on estimations of the ionization. The ionizations are deduced from average-atom calculations and compared with faster Thomas-Fermi-Dirac estimations. ((c) 2013 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
