This study has focused on the two-dimensional thermal elasto-plastic analysis to understand and clarify the mechanical phenomena of thermal elasto-plastic behavior on the hybrid welded butt joints. For this, the heat source model for simulation has been determined considering the hybrid welding characteristics. From the results obtained by thermal elasto-plastic analysis, thermal, residual stress characteristics and their production mechanism on hybrid welded joint were clarified. Moreover, effects of welding process (hybrid welding and SAW) on the temperature distribution and welding residual stresses of welded joints were evaluated, indicating that a new welding process of hybrid welding was advantageous compared to conventional arc welding process like Submerged Arc Welding.
