Detection of Escherichia coli sequence type 131 clonal group among extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing E. coli using VITEK MS Plus matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry

We investigated the performance of the VITEK MS Plus system for the detection of Escherichia coil sequence type 131 (ST131) among extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing E. coil isolates. The SARAMIS software could discriminate the 67 ST131 isolates from 82 non-ST131 isolates with a sensitivity of 86.6% and a specificity of 95.1%. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
