A versatile approach is developed to fabricate strong multi walled carbon nanotube/epoxy composites, based on the buckypaper approach. The crucial factors affecting their mechanical performance are the porosity of the carbon nanotube preform, the presence of reactive functional groups onto the CNT surface and the pressure-assisted impregnation. This fabrication procedure can be easily extended towards the preparation of CNT-based composites in industrial scale. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
