Copper oxide (CuO), as a multifunctional inorganic material, has a wide application in various fields such as printing and dyeing, room-temperature desulfurizing technology, ceramic, medicine and catalytic reaction. In this paper, pure CuO nanostructures and M (M: Mn2+, Cd2+, Zn2+)-doped CuO nanostructures were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method. The morphology, structure and optical properties of obtained products were fully investigated by FESEM, XRD, UV-Vis. Besides, the photocatalytic property was also characterized by photodecomposition test. On the basis of characterization results, doped ions had an effect on the morphology and structure of CuO nanostructures. The optical properties of CuO nanostructures were affected obviously with doping ions. The M-doped CuO nanostructures exhibited excellent photocatalytic property. And photo-degradation rate can reach to 91.08 % with the Cd2+-doped CuO nanostructures.
