Effects of Ca substitution for Mg on the phase composition, microstructure, sintering behavior and microwave dielectric properties of Mg3-xCaxV2O8 ceramics were investigated. Mg3-xCaxV2O8 ceramics could be well densified at around 950 degrees C using a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure and microwave dielectric properties exhibited strong dependence on the composition. A relatively temperature-stable composite ceramic was obtained at x = 9/4 with epsilon(r) similar to 12, Q x f similar to 5700 GHz, and tau(f) similar to -15 ppm/degrees C.
