In this research, Pd supported multi wall carbon nanotube(MWNT) nano catalyst prepared in previous work used for investigation the efficiency of an oxidative desulfurization (ODS) process in sulfur reduction from naphtha. Palladium (Pd) supported on functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (FMWNTs) have been found to be effective in catalyzing oxidation of the sulfur impurities in naphtha to corresponding sulfones. a catalyst of 0.1%wt Pd on FMWNT as a support synthesized by impregnation method and was characterized by TEM, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), TPR and BET analysis. oxidative desulfurization reaction was done at 25 degrees C in atmospheric pressure under reaction condition of V-H2O2 = 2 mL and Fuel/solvent molar ratio = 2. We also applied our catalyst in oxidative desulfurization reaction of naphtha (with sulfur contents 870 ppm), and more than 90% of sulfur was removed from naphtha under mild reaction conditions.
