A new glycoside called fisherioside A for which the structure (22E,24S,25S)-3-O-(beta-D-xylopyranosyl)-24-methyl-3 beta,6 beta,8,15 alpha,16 beta-pentahydroxy-5 alpha-cholest-4,22-dien-26-oic acid N-(2-sulfoethyl)amide sodium salt was isolated from the Far-East starfish Leptasterias fisheri. Its structure was elucidated using two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy and tandem mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization (ESI).
