Large arrays of alpha-sexithiophene (alpha-6T) crystals with controlled sizes and various shapes such as stripes, squares, hexagons, etc. are successfully demonstrated using an SiO2 surface with patterned Au films as a template. Top-contact field-effect transistors fabricated with alpha-6T crystals exhibited mobilities as high as 0.1 cm(2)/(V s).
