A general technique is presented for the generation of transparent oleic acid-coated nanoparticle (NP)/polymer composite materials via in situ polymerization in the presence of a poly(ethyleneglycol)monooleate ligand. Using this technique several transparent upconverting NaYF4 NP/PMMA bulk polymer composites with various emissions are synthesized.
