We use high-resolution transmission electron microscopy to assess the formation of PbTelCdTe and PbSelCdSe corelshell nanoparticles by cationic exchange. We find that core and shell have the same crystallographic orientation, and that the core shape is governed by an anisotropic growth mechanism.
