Water/alcohol soluble conjugated polymers (WSCPs) can be processed from water or other polar solvents, which offer good opportunities to avoid interfacial mixing upon fabrication of multilayer polymer optoelectronic devices by solution processing, and can dramatically improve charge injection from high work-function metal cathode resulting in greatly enhancement of the device performance. In this critical review, the authors provide a brief review of recent developments in this field, including the materials design, functional principles, and their unique applications as interface modification layer in solution-processable multilayer optoelectronic devices
