Catalytically active microchannels containing 1.5wt.% Ag/alumina were used for studying the kinetics of the hydrocarbon-assisted selective catalytic reduction of NOx. Hexadecane, a model component for second-generation biodiesels, was used as a reducing agent. Steady-state data from the microreactor was used to develop a detailed kinetic model. The kinetic parameters were estimated through numerical data fitting, with plug flow model for the microchannels. The model explained fairly well the experimental data. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V.
