A cyanide-bridged tetranuclear Fe-Co complex showed electrontransfer-coupled spin transitions induced by X-ray irradiation. Single crystal X-ray diffraction measurements and X-ray absorption spectroscopy revealed that the X-ray-induced phase transition ratio was significantly altered by the selective excitation of the metal ions.
