A new radical oxytrifluoromethylation of alkenes via an aerobic C-vinyl-heteroatom bond oxygenation process is reported, in which O-2 and a catalytic amount of K2S2O8 work in concert to activate CF3SO2Na. Mechanistic investigation disclosed that CF3SO2 center dot could react with O-2 to reinitiate radical chain process.
