Intergrown Li2FeSiO4 center dot LiFePO4-C nanocomposites with different compositions were synthesized by a tartaric acid assisted sol-gel method. The 0.96Li(2)FeSiO(4)center dot 0.04LiFePO(4)-C nanocomposites exhibited greatly enhanced electrochemical properties, attaining a high discharge capacity up to 284.7 mA h g(-1) (equal to ca. 1.72 Li+ per molecule) at 45 degrees C.
