The thermal stability of alpha ''-Fe16N2, which attracts much interest because of its superior magnetic properties featuring a large magnetocrystalline anisotropy (K-u similar to 1 x 10(7) erg cm(-3)) and a large saturation magnetization (M-s similar to 234 emu g(-1)), though unfortunately thermally unstable, has been quantitatively studied.
