Using a frustrated Lewis pair approach, the 1,1-bis-(C(6)F(5))(2)BOB(C(6)F(5))(2) is shown to bind CO(2) in a monodentate fashion, while the bis-boranes (X(2)B)(2)C=CMe(2) (X = Cl, C(6)F(5)) give bidentate chelation of CO(2) affording unique heterocycles.
