Biocompatible dual-modality imaging nanoprobes were synthesized by the electrostatic assembly of poly(gamma-glutamic acid)[Gd-DTPA] and chitosan[IRDye800] and applied for the imaging of immune cells (phagocytic) and cancer cells (non-phagocytic).
