The hydrolysis of the DMF solvent (DMF = N,N'-dimethylformamide) generates in situ the template cations DMA(+) (dimethylammonium cation): it leads to the first MOF type solid (Fe0.5Fe0.5II)-Fe-III(OH,F)(O2C-C6H4-CO2)center dot 0.5DMA with a regular charge order Fe-III/Fe-II and an anionic framework with pores filled by counter-cations which behaves as a quasi-1D AF system with alternate localized Fe-II and Fe-III moments.
