Three methods have been employed in the synthesis of 2-trialkylsilylaziridines. Firstly, reacting alpha-chloro-alpha-silyl carbanions with imines. Secondly, from the corresponding vinylsilane, via addition of bromoazide to give the 1-bromo-2-azide, followed by reduction. Finally, by the addition of organoazides to vinylsilanes using thermochemical and photochemical conditions. Using these three strategies a range of substitution patterns have been achieved.
