The essential oil isolated by strain distillation from the aerial par ts of Satureja bachtiarica Bunge was analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. Among the 26 compounds identified, the major components were thymol (44.5%), gamma-terpinene (23.9%), p-cymene (7.3%), beta-caryophtyllene (5.3%) and borneol (4.2%).
